"Tearing up a daily newspaper is the only way to free oneself, at a stroke, from thieves, murderers, swindlers, apostles and catastrophes"… This quotation from the poet Guido Ceronetti fits Zakamoto's works perfectly: he manages to transform dramatic headlines, generally set in huge type, into visions full of humour, capable of drawing a smile from us and at times a real laugh.

THE DUCE ANNOUNCES TO THE ITALIAN PEOPLE AND TO THE WORLD that the war is over.
Yesterday, 5 May, at 4 p.m. Marshal Badoglio entered Addis Ababa. ETHIOPIA IS ITALIAN. Roman peace.
Here is the speech delivered yesterday by the Duce from the balcony of Palazzo Venezia. Blackshirts of the Revolution, men and women of all Italy, Italians and friends of Italy beyond the mountains and beyond the seas, listen! Marshal Badoglio telegraphs me: «Today, 5 May, at 4 p.m., at the head of the victorious troops, I entered Addis Ababa». In the thirty centuries of her history Italy has lived many memorable hours: this of today is surely one of the most solemn. It is not without emotion and pride that, after seven months of harsh hostilities, I pronounce these great words: Ethiopia is Italian! Long live Italy!
